LEARNING AND UNLEARNING / NO.10 / 29th FEBRUARY

 Learning...

Dear readers, today is a very special day. As we all know its Leap day today and this is my 10th blog postI'm overjoyed at the fact that I've posted consistently and with sincerity. Honoring these little milestones will motivate us—me included—to keep going toward achieving our goals.

I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude to my dear professor, who encouraged me to write every day. I sincerely appreciate you, sir; without you and your everyday motivation , I could not have been this regular.

Alright, let's discuss about learning. What is learning? Studying and learning are two distinct things. Studying requires memorization and delving deeply into a subject, but learning is absorbing new information and developing new skills.

It is necessary to unlearn a great deal of information in order to learn anything new. Our upbringing and cultural contexts have shaped the way we are wired and conditioned. Only until you step outside of your comfort zone and discard a great deal of your preconceived opinions and presumptions can you truly grow.

The world continues to advance every day. Every now and again, novel notions, ideas, and innovations appear. We need to update and upgrade ourselves. These days, it's also fashionable to execute the same tasks in new ways.

Everything needs novelty, whether it's in our chosen field or our daily lives. The 'new-normal' has replaced the pre-pandemic "normal" in our post-pandemic period. Given the unpredictable nature of the modern world, we are expected to accept change and learn to live with it. It's critical to continually educate, upskill and keep up with emerging trends.

It's critical that we unlearn all we've learned thus far in order to stay relevant and adapt to shifting trends. We have access to a wealth of information and concepts that are often out of date with the times we live in. Learning necessitates unlearning and relearning everything during the process.

This holds true for all facets of life, such as work, education, spirituality, and so forth. At school, we would have learnt certain things in a particular way. When we enrolled in college, everything would have been new, and we would have had to learn those things from scratch. It's the same with spirituality. We must renounce the world in order to become closer to God. Embracing the experience of spirituality involves rejecting and unlearning the patterns of this world.

To learn is to unlearn and relearn in a different way!

Regards,

S. Jennifer Sandra
